Chok Chai Farm burger now at the Mall, Korat

The opened the fourth branch of Chok Chai Farm burger at the Mall, on first floor, at Freshmart Market.

They serve some steaks and have 3 kinds of burgers: Traditional, Kurobata or Wagyu. Cheapest is 120 (traditional) and more expensive is 250 (Wagyu full option). Options are cheese, bacon, fried onions. Full options has these 3.

I had the original with full option. That was 150 baht. I have to say it was a VERY good burger.

There are benches on a counter around the place in Freshmart at the Mall. It is kind of strange to eat in a supermarket...

Ra bian gao, Thai food.

284/3 T. Yomarat, Phone: 044-267765

Ra Bian Gaow is a great restaurant in Korat. They serve excellent food in a nice ambiance. If you want to taste the best of Thai food, try this place. Surely one of the top 10 best restaurant in Korat city.

This place is quite large and has 2 dinning rooms. There's a large parking behind. It's located on Yomarat road, not far from Bule Saloon. But be careful, there is RA BIAN PA and RA BIAN GAOW. And both are close to each others.

Their menu is only in Thai but some menus have pictures. The dishes are from Yam, Tom Yam, Fish, and all the normal Thai traditional delicacies.

Yam Hua Pree, delicious but don't try it if you can't eat spicy!

We suggest you to try YAM HUA PREE (Spicy thai salad with banana flowers) but ask NOT SPICY (Mai Pet!). Another great dish is KA MU (Pig’s leg).

The place is nicely decorated and they have terraces, with fountains and many cats walking around. On both sides (road going to the parking separates the 2 sides), it's the same kitchen and same dishes.

This is a deep fried fish with Thai herbs. There is a dise dish of spicy salad that

you can't see, about 220 baht but large meal.

(Thai: Pla Kapong Tod Samun Prai.)

Rikura, Japanese Restaurant in Nakhon Ratchasima.

Mukkamontri Road.

Rikura is a Japanese restaurant that opened around 2010-2011. It's at the end of Mukkamontri Rd, not very far from Eddie Vegas bar. On Google Maps, you will find the location at 14.967988,102.053321. (Just enter these values at in the search at http://maps.google.com)

This is not a big restaurant but it is charming. Only few tables inside, very clean. They open around 10am but we suggest you to arrive after 11am. There is a parking in front.

The menu is only in Thai but it has pictures, so it is not difficult to order.

Beside traditional Japanese dishes like sushi, shashimi, maki, miso soup, you will also find a lot of set menu.

I am normally not a fan of set menu. You always find something that you don't like but I have to say that here, it is economic, you have plenty of choices and they seem quite good.

This place also sells different items from Japan or Korea.

Below is a seafood curry set. There were different deep fried seafood, like shrimps, squid and also salmon. The curry was like an Indian curry, with cumin taste, quite fine. There was a potato salad, some water melon, miso soup and some nice appetizers, with baby octopus and others. About 179 baht, can't remember exactly.

Certainly a place to try, if you are in the area or like Japanese food.

Genki Ramen, Nakhon Ratchasima.

(Under construction)

genki_japanese_ramen_2011-06-01.jpg
This place is nice, it opened few months ago in Korat. It's located in the center of the city, very convenient.

I just tried it this week. I personally find it very similar to Yayoi at the Mall but it's much smaller. Their menu is MUCH more interesting then Yayoi: it has more variety, clear and beautiful.

This restaurant is always quite busy, service is very good and you feel to be in a nice restaurant. Prices are similar to Yayoi.

I was not surprised to see that it's a brand of a restaurant in Chiangmai. You feel they know how to manage a restaurant. The website of the Chiangmai restaurant is here:

www.genkiramentei.com

The large and beautiful menu includes sushi, sashima, ramen, and much more. Thai, English, Japanese and also pictures. Easy to understand.

I had the sashimi salad, maybe 189 baht. Not exactly like on the menu but fine. The salad dressing was REALLY good. It's not the cheapest restaurant and I know you can eat very well in Korat for 200 baht. But the sashimi are expensive and it was good.

I will surely go back.

This place is VERY good. They also have WIFI. They also have table outside as you can see.

That was not my favorite but I am sure many will appreciate this pork.
Too fat for me, but the sauce and cooking was great.

This eggplant dish was delicious. A little sweet, very tasty. Cooked with pork I think...beautiful.
But you need to eat not just eggplant. I went there alone, for a quick lunch. That's a place to go with many people, and share all these delicacies. The manager (or owner) is very friendly.

Tomodachi, Japanese Restaurant.

TomoMenu14.JPG

Tomodachi is a small Japanese restaurant on Manat Road, or just behing "Big Chili". I previously saw many Japanese people going there, which is a good sign. So, we decided to try.

tomodachi.JPG

The menu has Thai and English, with pictures. We had a Japanese rice that was good for 50 baht. Served with a free miso soup.

That was a raw shrimp salad. Not bad, but not my favorite. 80 baht.

Sashimi was good. This plate of tune sashimi was 150 baht. A little expensive if you think that Kuroda has unlimited orders on the menu for 400 baht.

TomoMenu18.JPG

Gyu Steak for 150 baht. Also not my favorite. Meat was too hard.

It wasn't bad, but I just think Kuroda (fantastic all you can eat a la carte for 399 baht), Genki Ramen (really good) or even Fuji are better. But the location is great (middle of the city) and the place is quiet, simple and nice. I actually have 2 friends that love Tomodachi.

Have a try if you like Japanese food.
