Trattoria Pizzeria Da Ivo opened in 2007. It is conveniently located right in the middle of the popular farang street or backpackers street, day and night meeting place for foreign tourists and residents in Ayutthaya. It is on the same side as Moon Café, Tea & Coffee, and the popular Tony’s Place. It can accommodate about 20 customers on 6 tables, all inside. There is also a mezzanine floor, ideal for a more intimate tête-à-tête dinner.

All the cooking is done personally by the friendly Italian owner and manager, Mr. Marco, and by his Thai wife, Ms. Dao. Customers are especially foreign tourists and residents of Ayutthaya, plus some Thai gourmets of true Italian pizza and of Italian cuisine in general. Italian, English and Thai are currently spoken here.

According to Mr. Marco, this is the only real Western restaurant in Ayutthaya. We can only testify that it is the best we tasted during our stay in town.

We had a giant tomato bruschetta (bruschetta al pomodoro) for 70 B, and a pizza with smoked scamorza cheese (scamorza affumicata) for 220 B (see photos). It was delicious, abundant, and 100% truly Italian. The bruschetta was so big that we could only eat half of it on the spot; we took the other half away, perfectly wrapped up by the chef in person. We also had a cup of amazingly tasty green tea, kindly offered by Ms. Dao as her personal Thai touch to our dinner.
