Orchid Hut

Orchid Hut is a small, new guesthouse located on the perimeter of the old bus station in downtown Chiang Rai. For a late night arrival or early morning bus to the border, it’s conveniently located but still not too busy as it slowly builds its reputation. The guesthouse has rooms on 4 floors in a concrete townhouse, 6 fan rooms at 300 baht / night with tv and shared bathroom, and 9 air-conditioned 400 baht rooms with private baths. The air-conditioned rooms are small but clean and a good value in Chiang Rai. Fan rooms can often be had cheaper elsewhere.

The guesthouse has wireless internet access for patrons, and is open 24 hours so it’s an easy late night choice off a long-distance bus. During research, the reporter was asked not to take pictures of the rooms, however they’re the usual new guesthouse fare – white and clean with little decoration or furniture but decent beds for a comfortable night’s sleep. You can’t tell that much from pictures anyway, can you?
