There will be flights to Bangkok, Chiangmai and Chiangrai from Korat.

Only 1 day a week (Sat) would it be useful for incoming European overnight flights

Price for Korat to BKK or BKK to Korat is 650.
That's on their website.
And Chiangmai is 1,100.

What they don't say at the first look, is that you HAVE TO add insurance + fuel surcharge + airport tax.

REAL PRICE IS 1,400 for Bangkok
and 2,900 for Chiangmai.

Phuket's Happy Air expanding

Phuket's Happy Air has established a new base in Nakhon Ratchasima, a.k.a. Korat, in order to operate more flights to towns in the North and Northeast of Thailand.

The airline will base two aircraft in the northeastern city and one in Phuket.

Happy Air sales and marketing manager Phatcharapon Sontipun says the airline is confident its Nakhon Ratchasima hub can be developed into its main operational base.

The airport comes under the Civil Aviation Department, with lower parking and landing fees than at Phuket International Airport which is managed by Airports of Thaland.

“We will keep one aircraft in Phuket and have two operating out of Korat by October 1,” Phatcharapon says.

A friend of mine discussed with staff of happy air yesterday. He was told they are planning to open flights to hua hin and phuket around December.

Nothing is confirmed. Let's hope!

These routes were posted on some other forums, so the rumours look serious. It was said to start around October.

I read in Thai (can't remember where, I think Koratdaily.com) that the Nakhon Ratchasima Chamber of Commerce asked Happy Air to have a meeting which they did. They discussed about how to make it better, cause there are not a lot of customers right now. They Korat Chamber of commerce would like to use the flights to promote Korat, which is a great thing.
