A French-Thai restaurant opened around Christmas 2011 in Korat. It is called "Phil and Kaek A Moi". "A Moi" means "To me" in French. The owner is from France and his name is Philippe.
This place is closed now every THURSDAY. Open from 9am to 11pm.
It it located in front of Bangkok Hospital, in the same soi as Ban Sanphan, an excellent Chiangmai food restaurant that I like.
The owners did a great job: the place is big, clean, neat. The menu is in Thai and English. I was told it is becoming popular for breakfast, serving starting at 9am.
I talked with the owner and the "charcuterie" (cold cuts, meat, sausages) is made by some French guys in Pattaya. Some friends of mine tried the "Paté" and liked it a lot. They actually different kinds of patés on the menu. I recommend the "duck" and green pepper one.
We tried different things today. I just asked the owner what he would recommend. We tried a chicken dish and a sausage called Montbeliard, traditionally smoked with some sawdust.
Below is one of the chicken, it was tender.
The sausage was something I never tried before, in between sausage and ham. It was not my favorite but it was different.
It is nice to see some French food around here. We have now plenty of new places to try in Korat!
This fish below was pretty good, with lemon and not expensive. It was 120 or 130 baht. Different from Thai sauce or Thai fish. It really had a French taste...
The "duck and green pepper" pate was the best to my test. I hope he can get some French bread soon. The 7 eleven bread is not really good with pate!!
What I like, they buy differnt things, will try new pates, etc. I like variety and this what I understood from him. They recently put more items on menu with pictures.
This was a chicken snitzel, very good.
