Sri Racha Tiger Zoo – an amazing experience

Just outside the city of Pattaya at a distance of around half an hour, you can find the famous Sri Racha Zoo. The zoo is accessible to public since April 1997, and it has become a famous tourist center because of its close proximity with Bangkok. Most of the tourists visiting Bangkok and Pattaya make it a point to visit the zoo as there are aggressive advertisements to lure the visitors. On an average, the zoo witnesses near about three thousand visitors every month. However, many people believe that the actual number of visitors is far higher than the given figure. The expense for food and salaries every month is above fifteen million Thai Baht. Apart from the foreign visitors, the local schools also take the students to the zoo regularly. Not to mention that kids love it. To enter this amazing facility, you need to pay 300 Thai Baht, which is similar to the Pattaya’s Monster World, a much smaller facility.

As the name suggests, Sri Racha Tiger Zoo is famous for the tigers. Presently, there are more than four hundred tigers in the zoo and the number will increase as the breeding process in on. If you want to see White tigers then you could be disappointed as the zoo does not keep or breed these tigers. However, you will love the cubs in the zoo. There are plenty of them, playing around with their siblings. Definitely cute to watch! There is a big signboard in the zoo that has mentions of ‘Nu,’ a four year tigress that gave birth and reared three out of five cubs in one year. It seems that the administration of the zoo is proud of this fact, but such factory farming is harsh on these animals. The accommodations where the tigers are kept are not very exciting. Mostly general accommodation of different sizes.

However, the biggest draw of the zoo is tigers, but here you will also find several other animals as well. Orangutan, Spotted Deer, Capybara, Dromedary Camels, Blue & Gold Macaw, Green Iguanas, Scorpions, Reticulated Pythons, Water Buffalo, Donkey, Domestic pigs, Domestic dogs, etc. can be seen in the zoo. Among the other animals, the biggest attraction is the Siamese Crocodiles. There are several thousands of these crocodiles.

If you think that just watching these rare animals is what Sri Racha Zoo is all about, then think again. There are loads of other attractions that drive the tourists from different corners of the world. A young lady, known as Scorpion Queen, catches the attention of the visitors because of daring stunt with numerous poisonous scorpions on her clothes. Visitors also enjoy crocodile wrestling and circus in the zoo premises. If you visit the zoo between May to August, you will witness the Crocodile eggs breaking festival, which is very entertaining. Other than that, you will love the fun of Pig racing as well.
